LECO Compliance Documents

In 2014, LECO increased its commitment to national and global compliance by developing a dedicated Compliance team. This team is responsible for setting guidelines and making recommendations towards ensuring that our products and business processes meet or exceed all Domestic and International guidelines in regards to employee, customer, and environmental safety as well as social responsibility. Statements and information on many requested issues may be found on this page; for information not covered below, please contact Raghu Murthy, Director of Compliance, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

In 2002, the European Union introduced the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The main aim of the Directive is to ensure that WEEE is collected and treated separately. WEEE may contain hazardous substances that should not end up in the (human) environment because it can have adverse effects on it. Furthermore, WEEE is a vast source of raw materials. With the ever-rising worldwide demand for new equipment and the ever-decreasing volume of raw materials in nature, letting this potential source of such materials go to waste is unacceptable. If equipment is collected separately, the equipment can be recycled and up to 85 to 90% of the equipment can be reused as new material, saving the use of virgin raw materials and the energy of producing these. Separate collection and treatment of WEEE will thus decrease CO2 emissions as well.

For these reasons, LECO expects end-users to dispose of the material in an environmentally friendly way through separate collection and treatment. Electrical and Electronic Equipment is labeled with the following 'crossed out wheeled bin' symbol, indicating that the equipment should be disposed of, by the end-user, separate from other types of waste. End-users should contact their dealer/distributor or our company for disposal, collection, and recycling options in their country.

Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

LECO is committed to maintaining high ethical standards with members in our supply chain and does not condone illegal or unethical activities anywhere in the world. LECO expects our suppliers to conduct their business in a similar manner with the same high standards. Suppliers wanting to conduct business with LECO must agree to our terms and conditions, which includes this corporate policy on slavery and human trafficking. Through a risk-based approach, LECO will identify suppliers that might be at a higher risk for human rights issues. High-risk suppliers may be required to develop a corrective action plan prior to doing business with LECO. At LECO’s discretion, members of our supply chain are subject to an unannounced auditing process to ensure they continue to engage in business practices that are not morally, ethically, or legally compromising. On an as-needed basis, LECO provides training to those employees that are directly responsible for supply chain management. Employees are trained in how to identify and mitigate issues, risks, and problems in the supply chain. LECO’s employees are required to understand and obey our business policies and LECO reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any employee who violates these terms.

In January 2012, the state of California enacted the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB657). This Act requires manufacturers that do business in California to disclose their efforts, if any, regarding slavery and human trafficking in their supply chain. LECO Corporation is in full support of and in compliance to California’s efforts to implement ethical labor practices and protect human rights.

Compliance Testing Center and Anechoic Chamber

The testing capabilities of LECO’s Compliance Testing Center ensure that LECO instruments meet or exceed worldwide product safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements. EMC testing includes radiated and conducted emissions, electrostatic discharge, power line transients, near lightning strike surges, RF conducted immunity, and many other testing capabilities. Testing is also performed to ensure LECO instruments are safe from shock hazards, high temperatures, moving parts, etc. The ability to test on-location during all phases of product development allows LECO to achieve compliance with worldwide sales requirements, including the CE requirements in Europe. Declaration of Conformity documents for instruments tested at our Compliance Testing Center can be requested by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots.
